Silver Sneakers Fitness Program at the YSilverSneakers® is a fun, energizing program that helps older adults take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity and offering social events. If you have one of these health care plans, bring your card to the Y and receive a Free Silver Sneaker® Membership.

What does my SilverSneaker® Fitness Program membership mean?

Once you have enrolled in the SilverSneakers® Fitness Program you are a YMCA of Steuben County member with all of its benefits. Your membership also includes the SilverSneakers® Fitness Classes that are offered weekly in our fitness room. When participating with the Fitness classes you would wear lose, comfortable clothing, socks and supportive tennis shoes. Don't forget to bring plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.

SilverSneakers® 1 - Muscular Strength & Range of Motion

Silver Sneakers ExercisesHave fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

SilverSneakers® II - Cardio Circuit

Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper-body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation.
